About Vihiga Constituency

In 2019 population census in Kenya placed the constituency’s population at slightly less than 100,000. The population has since increased. The constituency has a population density of 1,168 persons per square kilometer who reside in an area covering 90.2 km square. Agriculture and livestock rearing are practiced in the area and have influenced settlement in Vihiga. The road infrastructure is fairly well defined but requires a lot in terms of expansion and continuous maintenance.
Vihiga has got an urban population that is mostly settled in Mbale town that hosts the County Headquarters as well as Vihiga and Majengo town that hosts the County Assembly.
